North Richland Hills will celebrate the 2019 Christmas season with the Holiday Magic Christmas Tree Lighting & Family Festival on Friday, December 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the NRH Centre Plaza, Stormy Plaza and NRH Library along Hawk Avenue and Grand Avenue. The festival will include live music, community entertainment, food and craft vendors, children’s activities, the Christmas Tree lighting and fireworks show, holiday scenes and of course Santa. The location, along Hawk and Grand Avenues, brings the feel of a street festival to the event and also allows some activities to be indoors. The location also provides an opportunity for the city’s Christmas Tree and popular holiday photo scenes to be enjoyed through the entire month of December. Admission and parking are free. There is a charge for some activities. See more details about the activities planned for the evening below.
A variety of tasty treats will be available for purchase. A list of food vendors will be posted prior to the event.

Christmas Tree Lighting & Fireworks Show
The lighting of North Richland Hills' 46-foot-tall Christmas Tree will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Stormy Plaza and will be immediately followed by a dazzling fireworks display. Stormy Plaza is located at the intersection of Hawk Avenue and Grand Avenue, just across from the NRH Library. A portion of Parker Avenue will be temporarily closed to traffic during the fireworks show.
Visit with Santa
Children of all ages are invited to share their Christmas lists with Santa inside the Community Room at the NRH Library, starting at 6 p.m. The line for Santa will close at 8:45 p.m. Be sure to bring a camera to take your own photos!
Santa's Workshop Activities
Santa's Workshop at the NRH Library will offer 14 holiday themed crafts and activities for children ages 3 and up. The cost to take part in the crafts is $3 per child. To be able to complete the crafts by 9 p.m., the line will close at 8:30 p.m. or earlier if tickets sell out. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
NRH Centre Plaza Stage - The Vinyl Stripes Concert
The Vinyl Stripes return to North Richland Hills to perform holiday hits and Rockabilly Surf starting at 7 p.m. on the NRH Centre's outdoor plaza. Seating will be on the lawn. Bring your friends and family, along with your lawn chairs and blankets, for a great night of music and fun.
Get into the holiday spirit with performances by several area children's choirs and community groups on our community stage. The community stage will be located on Grand Avenue near the Christmas Tree. Performances include:

Dallas Puppet Theater
Pix Smith and his marionettes will provide entertainment for all ages with a strolling show along Hawk Avenue. The Dallas Puppet Theater is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and advancing the performing, visual, and creative art of puppetry through an ongoing series of family performances, guest artists, school programs, workshops and outreach programs.
There will be numerous photo opportunities along Hawk and Grand Avenues and inside the NRH Library. Don't forget to bring your camera to take selfies and holiday family portraits!
Event parking is free at the NRH Centre located at 6000 Hawk Ave. and the Birdville High School parking lot at the southeast corner of Mid Cities Blvd and Hawk Ave. Handicap Parking is located in the NRH Centre lot, 6000 Hawk Avenue. NRH Library will close at Noon. A portion of Hawk Avenue next to the Library and NRH Centre Plaza will be closed starting at 1 p.m. NRH Centre will close at 4 p.m.
