The North Richland Hills City Council has called a special election for November to fill the vacancy left by Council Member Brent Barrow, who passed away on August 2.
The resolution to call for the special election for City Council Place 4 was unanimously approved during the August 12 City Council Meeting. Pursuant to the North Richland Hills City Charter and Texas Election Code, the election will be held November 5, 2019, which is the next uniform election day. A general election to amend the Texas Constitution is also being held on November 5.
The person duly elected shall serve the remainder of the term for Place 4, which expires in May 2020.
Candidates for the special election can submit completed applications to the City Secretary Office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting August 13 and concluding on September 4, excluding Monday, September 2. Information on filing for office is available at www.nrhtx.com/candidate.
Early voting for the November 5 election will take place October 21 through November 1.
