Development activity has been at record levels around North Richland Hills the last couple of years and shows no signs of stopping in 2019. At the January 14 Council meeting, development plans were approved in all areas of the city from south of Loop 820 to the northern tip at Precinct Line and Davis Boulevard.
Plans for North Richland Hills’ first microbrewery were approved as Brutal Beerworks received a special use permit for a microbrewery (a.k.a. brew pub) at 8401 Boulevard 26. Locally owned Brutal Beerworks plans to locate at Boulevard 26 and Emerald Hills Way. A microbrewery is a limited-production brewery, producing and selling specialty beers on site. Brutal Beerworks brews have won numerous awards, and the company has a mission to provide the freshest hand crafted ales in a casual setting where friends and families can enjoy an always evolving beer list. Check out Brutal Beerworks on Facebook to follow their journey as they plan to open for business in the next few months.
The first development at City Point was approved. City Point is the area around the new City Hall that will one day be a mixed use development. Monday night the City Council approved a replat for the first phase of the new development which will be a multifamily development known as “26 @ City Point” to be constructed by AG Spanos Multi-Family Communities on the 10 acres west of City Hall. The remaining land is in the design stage for a mix of uses including retail, restaurants and office space.
The City Council also approved zoning for an independent senior-living community and future commercial uses on 16.83-acres on the west side of Davis Boulevard at the intersection of Precinct Line Road. This property extends from the NRH/Keller city limits south to an area behind Aldi and Capital One Bank. The development will include independent senior-living apartments and cottages to be known as “Watermere on the Preserve.” Two commercial tracts will front on Davis Boulevard as part of this development.
