February 2017 Update:

Here’s a preview of the Babe’s Chicken Dinner House restaurant that will be built near the southeast corner of Rufe Snow Drive and NE Loop 820. It will have a historical look, with unique architecture and repurposed materials, similar to their restaurant in Frisco, TX. The developer has been busy finalizing the plans for Babe’s, as well as the Sweetie Pie’s Ribeyes that will be built next door. The latest word from Babe’s is that construction will begin mid-2017 with an opening date in 2018. Sweetie Pie’s Ribeyes is anticipated to begin construction in late 2017.  Watch for updates on both projects here and on the city’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/NRHCityHall

Babe’s Chicken Dinner House, North Richland Hills location

January 2017 Update:

Babe’s Chicken Dinner House and Sweetie Pie’s Ribeyes recently received TxDOT approval on their driveways, which was the last step before finalizing their site plan.  Babe’s is anticipated to begin construction in mid-2017 with Sweetie Pies starting about 6 months thereafter.  Both restaurants are much bigger than traditional sit downs and will include not only unique architecture, but re-purposed materials. Stay tuned for an update in the near future with renderings of the restaurants, which will look historical similar to the Babe’s in Frisco, Tx.

Prior Post:

The North Richland Hills City Council has given approval for Babe’s Chicken Dinner House and Sweetie Pie’s Ribeyes to be built on Loop 820, just east of Rufe Snow Drive, at the former library and recreation center site. Construction is expected to begin in 2017. Babe’s is a family style and family owned restaurant with 9 locations in DFW and is ranked by Zagat as the most popular restaurant in the Metroplex. Sweetie Pies, which is owned by the same family, is a steakhouse with one location currently in Decatur. It was recently featured in Texas Highways magazine. The restaurant is known not only for its steaks, but for its baked potatoes and pot pies. The addition of these restaurants furthers the redevelopment efforts along our Loop 820 corridor. It also addresses a primary request from recent citizen surveys for more quality, sit-down restaurants in our community.
