Fatal Crash - Airport Frwy.

Words Fatal Crash over photo of Crime Scene Vehicle

A 20-year-old man has died following a major crash on Airport Freeway shortly after 8:00 a.m.
North Richland Hills Police responded to a major crash involving an 18-wheeler and motorcyclist on Airport Fwy. eastbound near the Precinct Line exit. Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist attempted to pass an 18-wheeler on the inside shoulder. However, three vehicles had pulled to the inside shoulder to exchange information following an unrelated minor crash. The motorcyclist then attempted to get back into the lane of traffic; it is believed he clipped the fender of the 18-wheeler and then crashed. Sadly, the 20-year-old motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler stopped and cooperated with police.
Two lanes of eastbound Airport Fwy. were closed for approximately three hours while investigators and crime scene processed the crash scene. Hurst Police Department assisted by providing a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officer who conducted an inspection of the 18-wheeler where no mechanical violations were found.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will release the victim's name following proper notifications to family members.
