[ARCHIVED] Movie Theater Update

Exterior of Alamo Drafthouse NRHJoin us in welcoming a new theater operator to North Richland Hills! B&B Theatres, the 5th largest theater chain in North America, has acquired the former Alamo Drafthouse Cinema with plans to open by the holiday season. Here’s their official press release:

FAMILY-OWNED B&B THEATRES ACQUIRES NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CINEMA AND HAS BIG PLANS!!
July 11, 2022 – B&B Theatres, the nation’s largest privately-held theater chain, is expanding its Lone Star footprint with the exciting acquisition of the North Richland Hills cinema located at 8380 Davis Boulevard in North Richland Hills, Texas! The beautiful new construction, closed by a former operator due to the pandemic and after only eleven months of business, still has a tremendous amount to offer the community…and B&B Theatres has exciting, innovative, and signature plans to further enhance the facility and bring the magic of the movies to North Richland Hills as never before!
The theater location already features ergonomically-designed luxury recliners and full, cutting-edge laser projection, but guests will be thrilled to learn of additional amenities coming their way, the first of which being the installation of a B&B Theatres GRAND SCREEN, the company’s own Premium Large Format (PLF) venue. The wall-to-wall, curved Grand Screens are among the largest screens in the nation, and North Richland Hills’ Grand Screen will boast 7.1 digital surround sound bringing together the best in visual and audio presentation. There is no better place to enjoy a blockbuster film than on a B&B Theatres Grand Screen!
But the seats and screens are just the beginning! As part of the redevelopment prior to reopening, B&B will install its celebrated Food-to-Go menu, offering guests the chance to order and enjoy not just traditional concession items, but hot, made-to-order flatbreads, burgers, fries, onion rings, chicken tenders, and much more! These delicious treats are nicely complemented by self-service soda fountains, allowing guests to mix and match flavors and enjoy free refills on all sizes!
Last but certainly not least, B&B is excited to announce that a massive redemption arcade is coming to the location as well, chockful of the latest games, classics, prizes, and family fun! While the opening date of the arcade is yet to be determined, B&B is committed to reopening the remodeled and updated theater by the Holiday Season of 2022.
These changes are just a few of the many B&B has planned, and further announcements will be posted online at bbtheatres.com and on the company’s social media channels.
Speaking of the acquisition, B&B Theatres President and CEO, Bob Bagby, said, “It has been so thrilling to see our industry rebound in such incredible fashion. The big screen is back in every way and this magnificent theater in North Richland Hills is longing to be reopened to the public! We are grateful to be working with the Duncan Family and can’t wait to get this project underway and opened up!”
Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Brock Bagby, also said of the location, “The North Richland Hills cinema is an absolute gem and a turnkey opportunity like this is rare. It’s been rewarding to find such a great location in a vibrant community owned by a group so willing to work to make things happen. It’s exhilarating for us as theater operators, but even more exciting is the reaction we know guests will have when they get to know us and experience our approach.”
President of the Duncan Family office, Travis English, said “We received interest from many theater operators about the NRH location. At the end of the day, B&B Theatres and the Bagby Family were the obvious choice based on their long history of successfully operating what has become the largest privately owned chain of theatres in America. Their focus on providing a top notch entertaining and fun experience for the entire family is the perfect fit for the North Tarrant market, and we cannot wait for them to open this fall!”
B&B Theatres believes in five core values: family, fun, innovation, joy, and integrity. The company and its employee family cannot wait to meet new friends in the North Richland Hills area and encourages everyone to follow B&B Theatres on social media (facebook.com/bbtheatres and @bbtheatres) and to check out the location later in the year to ENJOY THE MAGIC OF THE MOVIES!
