Chief Smith has been with North Richland Hills Fire-Rescue since June 1, 2005. Chief Smith is currently assigned to the Operations Division as a Shift Commander. As shift commander, his primary responsibilities are to oversee the daily operations of five stations and personnel. He is also responsible for being the Incident Commander on multi-unit fire and EMS incidents.
Chief Smith is a certified Paramedic and holds the following certifications from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection:
- Master Structure Firefighter
- Driver Operator-Pumper
- Driver Operator-Aerial
- Instructor II
- Fire Officer II
- Basic Wild Land Firefighter
- Advanced Fire Inspector
- Incident Safety Officer
Chief Smith is also a Hazardous Devices Technician on the NEFDA Bomb Squad certified through the FBI.
