Fossil Creek Park Mountain Bike/Hiking Trails COMING MID-MARCH 2021!
The Fossil Creek Park Mountain Bike Trails Project in North Richland Hills will develop mountain bike/hiking trails within Fossil Creek Park, located at 6101 South Onyx Drive. The 58.5 acre park contains beautiful natural areas comprised of mature hardwood trees, a mixture of grasslands and riparian habitats, all of which are ideally suited to hiking and mountain biking.
The Mountain Bike Project will include approximately 5 miles of trails, a trailhead kiosk and a small parking lot. The project is implemented through a partnership with the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers Association (FWMBA) to develop and maintain the trails. The project will begin in late October 2020 and completed in February 2021.
Project Update - February 23
The project’s development has experienced exceptional progress since its beginning in November 2020. Shadow Trail Designs, the contractor specializes in natural surface hiking and biking trails with 16 years of relevant experience. The map below shows the red trails west of Fossil Creek Park which were completed prior to Christmas 2020. The blue trail on the east side of Fossil Creek represents a 1.1 mile loop option for children, beginners and those who prefer a shorter ride experience. The yellow trail is currently under construction and it allows for the additional 1.5 miles for a continual loop experience of 2.6 miles total. On the east side of Fossil Creek, riders will have options to ride either loop trail, both loop trails or stack the ride by repeating loops. Currently, two bridges are complete with the help of many volunteers. The project is expected to be completed by mid-March 2021.
