Clear the Shelters Event

Clear the Shelters 2021

August 23 through September 19

Clear the Shelters, a national pet adoption event, returns August 23 to the North Richland Hills Animal Adoption & Rescue Center (AARC) located at 7301 Iron Horse Boulevard. North Richland Hills will be one of several dozen North Texas shelters participating in this year’s month-long event.

From August 23 to September 19, animal lovers can visit the AARC to adopt a pet for free. All pet adoption fees will be waived during the Clear the Shelters campaign. Pet adoptions include:

  • Surgical spay or neutering
  • Microchip for identification
  • Vaccinations
  • Heartworm testing for pets that are of age
  • Wormer for pets under 3 months of age
  • One year city registration tag for pets that will live in North Richland Hills

Pets currently available for adoption are posted online. To visit pets in person, stop by the AARC during the following hours:

  • Monday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.;
  • Tuesday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.;
  • Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

All adoptions are first come first served. If you are planning to adopt a cat or kitten, please bring a carrier with you. A letter from your landlord on company letterhead stating you can have a pet is required for all renters.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Clear the Shelters is sponsored nationally by NBC Universal and Telemundo and would not be possible locally without generous donors and sponsors who help cover spay/neuter and vaccination costs. If you would like to help, please call 817-427-6570 for more information.
