Recent Awards & Honors
The NRH Parks & Recreation Department was honored with the 2013 Texas Gold Medal Award by the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) in the 50,000 – 100,000 population category. This award honors communities that demonstrate excellence in long-range park planning, park and recreation resource management, community programs and events, public input and marketing efforts during the past three-years.
The Neighborhood Initiative Program has been awarded the 2013 Points of Light recognition. The Daily Point of Light Award honors individuals and groups that create a meaningful change in communities across America. This is the second time the Neighborhood Initiative Program has received this award.
The City of NRH won 2nd Place this year in the Governor’s Community Achievement Award. This award is given annually by Keep Texas Beautiful, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation to communities with the best grassroots environmental programs. The award is a reflection of the combined efforts of the Neighborhood Services Department, Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission, many volunteers, staff from several City departments and the support of our City Council.
