Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to oversee the proper and safe booking, release and holding of the City’s prisoners. This is accomplished by completing booking and releasing of prisoners according to standard operating procedure guidelines, entering prisoners’ information into computer system, filling out appropriate paperwork, fingerprinting and searching prisoners before entry into prison facility, photographing prisoners for legal and documentation purposes, logging prisoners’ personal property upon entry, inputting prisoners’ information into computer system upon release, supervising activities of prisoners, conducting cell checks, accounting for prisoners’ whereabouts in facility and distributing meals and medication to prisoners. Other duties include maintaining proper operation of jail equipment, assessing inventory supply levels, notifying supervisor of concerns, operating intoxilizer equipment, completing documentation paperwork as required and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees. REQUIRES: High school diploma or GED equivalent; no experience required; and must obtain Basic Jail Certification and State Intoxilizer Certification within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment. Typical work schedule will be rotating shifts, 40 hours/week.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety of the City’s residents and employees through the proper handling of the City’s emergency services calls. This is accomplished by answering and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, ambulance, water, public works and animal control services; evaluating and prioritizing needs of caller; dispatching the appropriate personnel to respond to calls; providing emergency medical information to caller while awaiting the arrival of response units and operating various types of communications equipment. Other duties include maintaining knowledge of communication regulations and rules, entering information into federal, state and local databases regarding wanted/missing persons and stolen property files, troubleshooting communications equipment and interacting with other City employees and citizens. REQUIRES: a high school diploma or equivalent; under and including one year in dealing with the public, and providing customer service, dispatch or related experience; a valid Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record over the past three years; EMD Certification, CPR Certification, Telecommunications Certification, and TCLEOSE Basic Dispatch Certification within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment; and type 35 words per minute corrected. Typing test is required before your application can be considered for this position. Testing hours are 8am-4pm at the Human Resources office. No appointment is necessary. Typical work schedule will be rotating shifts, 40 hours/week.
