The Mayor and Council members in Places 2, 4 and 6 shall be elected for two (2)
year terms at the general election in even-numbered years and Council members in
Places 1, 3, 5 and 7 in the general election in odd-numbered years.
The City Secretary's Office is responsible for conducting municipal elections as
prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas. The next municipal
election will be held on May 8, 2010 to elect a Mayor and Council Members in
Places 2, 4 and 6 for a two year term. Voters will also decide whether the North
Richland Hills Crime Control and Prevention District should be continued for 20
years and the Crime Control and Prevention District sales tax should be

In accordance with State law, candidate filing for Mayor and Places 2, 4 and 6
began on February 6, 2010 and will end on March 8, 2010. Qualified persons may
file as a candidate between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through
Friday, at the City Secretary’s Office at City Hall, 7301 Northeast Loop 820.
Each application for a place on the ballot shall be accompanied by either a
filing fee of $150 or a petition seeking the candidate’s name to be placed on
the ballot. Such petition shall be signed by at least 150 qualified voters of
the City. Candidate packets may be obtained from the City Secretary’s Office.

Qualifications
Each of the seven Council members and Mayor shall, on the date of the election,
be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, a citizen of the United States of
America and a registered, qualified voter of the State of Texas; shall reside
and shall have resided for at least one year preceding the election at which he
is a candidate, within the corporate limits of North Richland Hills; and shall
not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liability due the City,
or be disqualified by reason of any provision of any other section of the City
Charter. A member of the Council ceasing to possess any of the qualifications
specified in this section, or any other sections of the City Charter, or
convicted of a felony before or while in office, shall immediately forfeit his
office. No Council person shall hold any other public office except that of
Notary Public, member of the National Guard or any Military Reserve, or a
retired member of the Armed Services.

Early voting will take place at the NRH Recreation Center, 6720 Northeast Loop
820, and at several other locations in Tarrant County. North Richland Hills
registered voters may vote at any of the early voting sites in Tarrant County. A

Early Voting by Mail
In addition to early voting and voting on Election Day, the State mandates that
municipalities allow citizens to vote by mail if they meet one of the following
requirements:
- Age of voter is 65 or over on Election Day
- Voter is disabled
- Voter is confined in jail
- Voter expects to be out of the county on Election Day and during
the regular hours for conducting early voting – ballot must be mailed to an
address outside the county.
Applications for a ballot by mail may be submitted between March 9 and April 30,
2010.
Applications must be received at the following address NO LATER THAN FRIDAY,
APRIL 30, 2010.

Election Day Voting - Saturday, May 8
On Election Day, voting will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Voters will
be required to go to their designated voting location. You can determine your
voting location by the precinct number (four-digit number) that is listed on
your voter registration card. The voting locations are:
