Will my taxes go up to pay for this service?
No. The Fort Worth Transportation Authority operates it’s public transit system with funding from federal and local sources plus revenue from fares. The local source is dedicated local sales tax paid by consumers in Fort Worth, Richland Hills, Blue Mound, and Grapevine. North Richland Hills will be contributing funds of an equal proportion as part of the City’s agreement to participate in TEXRail. NRH’s participation in TEXRail will not result in an increase the NRH tax rate or the amount of sales tax or property tax that you pay. The sales tax and property tax generated by new development surrounding the Iron Horse and Smithfield stations will be used to fund the City’s participation in Tex Rail.
