The North Richland Hills Library has received the 2017 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Director’s Association (TMLDA). TMLDA is an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League. Each year TMLDA confers awards for outstanding contributions to public libraries.
To successfully receive the Achievement of Library Excellence Award, the applicant must exhibit excellence in providing services to underserved and special populations, enhancing services, marketing their programs and services in innovative ways, promoting cultural, topical, and educational programming, providing literacy support, in providing summer reading clubs, pursuing collaborative efforts, supporting workforce development, providing for digital inclusion, and in comprehensively training staff.
According to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, 548 public libraries exist in Texas. Of those libraries, only 52 received this award in 2017. This places the North Richland Hills Library in the top 10% of libraries in the state in terms of excellence of services, programs, marketing, and staff training during the 2017 calendar year. The North Richland Hills Library also received this prestigious award in 2015 and 2016.
The North Richland Hills Library is dedicated to providing educational, cultural and topical events, and classes. The Library is best known for their premier author series, Behind the Book, their innovative community workshop, The Maker Spot and for their excellent Mayor’s Summer Reading Club programs. The Library also provides access to millions of resources and hosts educational classes for all ages to help the citizens of North Richland Hills enrich their lives.
