The City Council on Monday approved the hiring of Dean Construction as construction manager at risk for the Northfield Park renovation project. The project includes the renovation and re-construction of three softball fields, hike and bike trails, picnic pavilion, playground, tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball court, concession / restroom building, roadway and parking lots, along with earthwork, utilities, lighting, turf establishment and irrigation.
Northfield Park, located at 7804 Davis Boulevard, is one of the city's oldest parks having opened in 1985. Throughout the past year the Parks & Recreation Department sought community input regarding renovation of the park. The $3.85 million construction cost is funded by the half-cent sales tax for park development and park impact fees, which are paid to the city by developers. Design and development work will continue through the summer with construction to begin this fall. The park will be closed during construction, which is anticipated to take one year.
